  • Pass Plus is a practical training course that takes at least 6 hours and is for drivers to improve their skills and drive more safely.

It can be taken at any time although it should be most useful to new drivers in the year after passing their test.

Who We Are

  • I’m Mike Colwill, a fully qualified DVSA Approved Instructor and the owner of Mike Colwill Driver Training (MCDT). Based in South Wales, I’ve spent years helping people gain the skills and confidence to get behind the wheel.

I believe that a driving license is one of the most significant "barrier-breakers" for independence and employment. However, in today’s climate, the "startup costs" of getting on the road—lessons, insurance, and the vehicle itself—are higher than ever. My mission is to bridge that gap and make that life-changing first step more accessible to everyone.

  • My passion for community support started during my own training. I partnered with a local student who couldn't afford driving lessons, providing him with free tuition right up until he passed his test on his very first attempt.

Another client of mine had a dream of becoming a coach driver. The last time I saw him, he was behind the wheel of a First Cymru bus with a huge smile on his face, having realized his dream of becoming a professional driver. Seeing that transformation—going from a lack of transport to a career in driving—is exactly why I have shifted my focus toward community-based initiatives. I’m not just running a draw; I’m dedicated to helping people change their lives.

  • I am deeply passionate about supporting the communities. To do this, I have moved in to offering unique, skills-based opportunities:

    • The MCDT Competition: I run skills-based competitions where participants answer a driving theory question to qualify. This ensures that while we provide an opportunity to win a course, we are also promoting road safety and knowledge.

    • Accessibility for All: I believe everyone should have a chance. That’s why I include a free postal entry route, meaning a local resident could potentially win an entire driving course for the price of a stamp.

    • Charity Partnerships: I am proud to donate "Barrier-Breaker" vouchers to local youth charities and organizations. These vouchers are designed to help those struggling with anxiety or financial hurdles get the head start they deserve.
